A little girl woke up covered in chickenpox the day before Christmas. Oh, dear. After ten days of another illness, and a trip to the ER over the weekend, it really didn't seem fair that she should also come down with chickenpox on Christmas. She'd have to skip the rides at the Christmas fair along the beach, as well as the visits to the local Nativity scenes. Instead, an unwell and itchy Rebecca was stuck to her favorite spot on the sofa in the living room by the fireplace for much of the Christmas holidays. There were some tears.
Still, she was never alone. In a way, it was good that it was Christmas, because her family was all home and with her the entire time. Her daddy played endless games of Sleeping Queens with her, cuddled her, and read her stories (including her current favorite Madlenka, over and over). Her brothers helped entertain her in their goofy and cheerful ways. There was pox for Rebecca this Christmas, but her family helped her wipe away the tears.
