I've never really known the color blue until we came to live by the Mediterranean Sea. Steel gray only on rare bleak winter days (here), and liquid bronze briefly at sunrise (here), its waters are typically colored by a myriad of hues of blue: from the lighter aquamarine tones of stormy days, to the cobalt blue of the Mediterranean sky reflected, to the magic turquoise of its sandy coves, to the mysterious indigo of dusk.
