My Flickr account is broken (oh, joy!), so my photos in previous posts are currently not loading - hopefully Flickr will fix things as soon as possible. Fixed! I'm a happy girl again, thanks Flickr!
The first harvest from the garden this year wasn't peas, fava beans, lettuce, or radishes as in past seasons. Instead, this bizarre spring, on one of the rare sunny days that we've been gifted, we harvested strawberries. "Look," Rebecca squeaked in delight, "Strawberries!" And sure enough, although winter was brutal, and spring seems to have forgotten all about us, and the earth has been quaking in northern Italy (thank you so much for you concern!) there really were strawberries. In fact, there were enough of them to fill a little basket, to make our first gelato of the season, to generally fill us with hope. Rebecca was so tickled by spring's first gifts that she dressed up in ribbons to celebrate the occasion.
