Our green wooden front door is probably as old as our house itself, and the house appears in Napoleonic records. The old door rests on ancient cast iron hinges, and we know for a fact that it's very, very heavy. How?
Because when it rains - as it has during the last couple of days - it becomes quite temperamental, and refuses to open wider than this. We tried to lift it off the hinges to sand it down a little, but couldn't move it an inch, it's so heavy. So when it rains, turning sideway and making ourselves thin is how we get into the house.
