I'm thrilled to announce that I've been accepted as a new writer at Simple, Green, Frugal Co-op. I'll be posting at the Co-op two to three times a month, and I will post a link here when I do. This is Monday, the beginning of a new week, and the beginning of something that I'm really looking forward to!
Ten years ago, when we moved to this remote hilltop village, several of our friends and family said they thought that raising children in a small rural community, far from the vibrant urban lifestyle we were used to, in an area where there wasn't even TV reception, might slow their intellectual development, and be bad for us as a family.
Oh, it hasn't been easy. But our children have thrived in this setting so far, and have been enriched by it in countless ways. Meanwhile, Tom and I have learned a lot about ourselves, about self-reliance, about life in a small community, and about what things matter most in life. I also believe that living this simple and sometimes demanding life has actually brought us closer as a family.
To have been accepted as a writer at the Co-op, where I'll be able to contribute to its effort, and share some of the things I've learned, seen, and thought about over the last decade, is for me a great compliment. Wish me luck!
